On June 15th, 2024, at around 4:40 AM a 2025 Freightliner, operated by 31-year-old Ashley C. Fowler, struck a 2015 Toyota Scion that was blocking the roadway as well as a pedestrian, 23-year-old Kemon Cunningham. Kemon Cunningham was involved in a prior crash with his Toyota Scion and was standing near his vehicle in the road. The crash took place about 6 miles east of St. Robert on I-44 in Phelps County. Kemon Cunningham was lying in the median with a serious leg injury when the first responders arrived and was transported to University Hospital in Columbia Missouri by Phelps Health Air. There was minor damage to the Freightliner and the Scion was totaled. Both vehicles were towed from the scene by D&D Towing.
