On Highway F and MO 154 Intersection, about two miles north of Vandalia, a fatal accident occurred on November 14th, 2024, at 4:37 pm. A 2022 Freightliner Cascadia failed to yield at a stop sign and headed northbound through an intersection, resulting in a 2014 Chevrolet Express Van striking the first vehicle. A 27-year-old male was driving a Freightliner and, according to the crash report, was not injured. The vehicle was moderately damaged and towed from the scene by Robert’s Garage. The 27-year-old was wearing a seat belt. Troop B responded to the scene.
The Chevrolet had a total of five injured passengers. The driver, a 70-year-old male was fatally injured. He was not wearing a seat belt. The 70-year-old was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Ralls County Coroner and transported to Bienhoff Funeral Home in Perry, Missouri. A female of unknown age was seriously injured and transported by Ralls County Ambulance to the University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. A 23-year-old male was moderately injured and taken to University Hospital by Van-Far Ambulance, as was a 24-year-old female with serious injuries. Finally, a 33-year-old male was air-lifted via Air Evac to the University Hospital with serious injuries. The Chevrolet was totaled and towed by Robert’s Garage.
