According to KRCG.
Officials have confirmed an eight-year-old boy is dead after a fatal crash on Highway 54 in Holts Summit late Wednesday night.
Officials said the crash shut down the westbound lanes of Highway 54.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the eight-year-old, a two-year-old boy and two women were in a car that stopped in the right lane near the OO/AA exit. A second vehicle hit their car from behind.
The eight-year-old was pronounced dead at Capital Region Medical Center. Both women and the two-year-old sustained moderate injuries.
The driver of the second vehicle sustained serious injuries and was transported by Life Flight to University Hospital.
Dealing with the death of a loved one is often one of the worst experiences an individual could endure. This is especially true when the death of that family member could be attributed to the negligence of another person. Fortunately, Missouri law allows the decedent’s family to pursue justice and compensation for a wrongful death.
