Two people were seriously injured Tuesday morning in a crash involving a passenger vehicle and a semi-truck in Cole County.
The crash happened around 11:50 a.m. on June 3, 2026, on MO Route B just south of Spring Ridge Road. A 2020 Honda CR-V attempted to turn southbound onto Route B and traveled into the path of a northbound 2018 Freightliner Cascadia.
The driver of the Honda, a 67-year-old woman, and a 66-year-old male passenger both suffered serious injuries. Both were taken by EMS to a local hospital.
The Honda was totaled and towed from the scene. The Freightliner sustained moderate damage and was also towed.
Crashes involving semi-trucks can be especially severe because of the size and weight of the commercial vehicle. Even when another vehicle enters the path of a semi, the truck driver’s speed, following distance, and ability to maintain control can play a major role in how serious the impact becomes. A semi traveling too fast for the conditions may need far more distance to slow down, steer, or avoid a crash.
This incident shows why commercial drivers must operate with extreme caution, especially near turns, intersections, and rural roadways where vehicles may enter or cross traffic. Tractor-trailers carry tremendous momentum, and that momentum can turn a sudden roadway hazard into a serious injury crash. Semi drivers must watch their speed, anticipate possible conflicts, and keep their vehicles under control at all times. When a commercial driver fails to control speed or respond safely to traffic conditions, that conduct can and should be treated seriously under the law.
