Two Injured After Delivery Van Rear-Ends Pickup

blog

Two people were injured Wednesday afternoon in a crash on U.S. 50 in Pettis County.

The crash happened around 3:52 p.m. on June 4, 2026, on U.S. 50 at MO-MM. A FedEx delivery van was traveling westbound when it struck the rear of a 2003 Ford pickup. After the impact, the Ford traveled off the right side of the roadway, rolled, and came to rest on its top.

The driver of the FedEx van suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. The driver of the Ford pickup suffered moderate injuries and was taken by EMS to a local hospital.

The FedEx van sustained moderate damage and was towed from the scene. The Ford pickup was totaled and also towed. Reporting states all drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision.

Rear-end crashes are not harmless mistakes, especially when they involve a commercial delivery vehicle. Delivery drivers are expected to maintain a safe following distance, watch traffic ahead, and control their speed so they can stop when needed. When a large, heavy vehicle strikes the back of another vehicle with enough force to send it off the roadway and roll it onto its roof, that conduct deserves serious scrutiny.

This crash reflects the kind of roadway behavior that can and should carry legal consequences when supported by the evidence. Large commercial delivery vehicles share the road with families, commuters, and local drivers, and their operators must drive with heightened caution. Failing to stop in time and causing another vehicle to overturn is not a minor lapse. It is dangerous conduct that can injure innocent motorists and should be treated as punishable under the law.
