Around 4:30pm on Thursday, the 24th, a crash occurred on US 63 South. A 55-year-old man from Moberly crossed the median and struck a vehicle driven by a 32-year-old man from Centralia. He was driving a Ford Focus and was pronounced dead at the scene. The man driving the vehicle that crossed the median was extricated from his BMW 540i and taken to University Hospital where he later died from his injuries. It is not known what caused the vehicle to cross the median and caused the wreck that stopped traffic on US 63.
The stopped traffic led to another fatal wreck further North on US 63. The 20-year-old driver from Higbee, in a 2017 Jeep Wrangler, was distracted and ran into the back of a 2023 Ford Bronco with four occupants from Moberly. One of those occupants was pronounced dead at the scene. All other occupants sustained injuries and were taken to University Hospital by ambulance.
