At approximately 11:05pm on March 15th, a car crash ensued on US-36 at MO-31, 3.2 miles west of Stewartsville, Missouri. As a 2022 Kia Forte was traveling eastbound on US-36, a 2009 Mercury Sable failed to stop at a stop sign on MO-31 traveling southbound, and they collided in the intersection. The Sable ran off the southeast side of US-36 and flipped over, where it halted movement. It received extensive damage in the collision and was towed from the scene by Highway 36 Auto and Diesel. The Kia skidded off the south side of the road and stopped while still on its wheels; it received moderate damage and was towed by the same service.
The driver of the Kia, a 37-year-old man, sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision and was taken to Mosaic Life Care of Saint Joseph by Dekalb Clinton Ambulance District. An occupant of the same vehicle, 42-year-old female, also sustained serious injuries and was taken to the same hospital by Buchanan County EMS. The driver of the Mercury Sable, 62-year-old female, was taken to the same hospital as well by Dekalb Clinton Ambulance District. All three adults were utilizing a safety device at the time of the crash.
