Five minutes after 6pm on June 19th, a two-car collision resulted in two going to the hospital near mile marker 17 on Interstate 29. A 2008 Dodge Ram was traveling northbound when it was hit from behind by a Toyota Tacoma, driven by a 35-year-old man. Both drivers were luckily wearing their seatbelts, and both vehicles were totaled as well.
The driver of the Toyota Tacoma sustained minor injuries and was evaluated at the scene. However, the driver of the Dodge Ram—the vehicle hit from behind—suffered more severe injuries and was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further treatment. No additional occupants were reported in either vehicle at the time of the crash.
Rear-end collisions are among the most common types of roadway accidents, often caused by distracted driving, following too closely, or sudden stops. This incident is a reminder of how critical it is to maintain a safe following distance—especially at highway speeds where stopping times are longer and impacts are more forceful.
