A serious crash in Audrain County, Missouri, left one motorcyclist injured on the evening of Thursday, October 23, 2025. The accident occurred around 5:18 PM at the intersection of Highway K and Audrain County Road 565.
The crash happened when a 2007 Freightliner, driven by a 20-year-old man, failed to yield at a stop sign. The truck crossed the roadway and struck the side of a 2025 Kawasaki Vulcan motorcycle traveling east.
The impact caused the motorcycle to overturn and slide beneath the Freightliner before coming to a rest. The 30-year-old motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The Freightliner driver was uninjured.
Both vehicles sustained minor damage, though the motorcycle was towed from the scene due to its condition.
Collisions involving motorcycles and large commercial vehicles are especially dangerous because motorcyclists are exposed to greater impact forces and have little physical protection. Even low-speed crashes can lead to serious injuries or fatalities. Drivers of larger vehicles must take extra care at intersections and stop signs, as motorcycles can be more difficult to see and often have the right-of-way.
This incident serves as an important reminder of the duty all motorists share to remain attentive on rural roadways and at uncontrolled intersections, where a moment of inattention can have devastating consequences.
All facts of the incident are based on preliminary reporting done by The Missouri State Highway Patrol.
