Two people were injured Monday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Morgan County.
The crash happened around 12:19 p.m. on August 10, 2026, on westbound U.S. 50 at Old Route 50. A 2013 Ford Focus made a left turn, traveled into the path of a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, and was struck by the Chevrolet.
The 17-year-old driver of the Ford suffered minor injuries. The 62-year-old driver of the Chevrolet suffered moderate injuries. Both received medical treatment after the crash.
Both vehicles were totaled and removed from the scene. The report states that the Ford driver was wearing a safety device, while the Chevrolet driver was not.
Left-turn crashes can be especially dangerous because they often place one vehicle directly into another driver’s path. A driver making a left turn must make sure the roadway is clear and that oncoming traffic has enough time and space to react. When a vehicle turns too soon or misjudges approaching traffic, the other driver may have little opportunity to avoid impact.
This crash shows how quickly an unsafe turning decision can cause injuries and total both vehicles. Drivers have a responsibility to look carefully, yield when required, and wait until it is safe before crossing traffic. Conduct that places another vehicle directly in danger should be taken seriously and addressed under the law.
