Head-On Collision on US-50 Through Franklin County

blog

On the evening of Monday, December 1, 2025, a violent head-on collision on US-50 west of MO-C in Franklin County sent multiple people to the hospital with serious and moderate injuries. The crash occurred around 8:20 PM.

Officials reported that a 2001 Lincoln Town Car, driven by a 42-year-old, was traveling eastbound when it crossed the center of the roadway and struck a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt head-on. The impact destroyed both vehicles, and each had to be towed from the scene.

The driver of the Chevrolet Cobalt, a 33 year old man, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital Washington. Three passengers in the same vehicle were also hurt: a 30-year-old woman with serious injuries, a 31-year-old man with moderate injuries, and finally a 19-year-old woman with minor injuries. All were transported by EMS to a local hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Lincoln, who was wearing a seatbelt, suffered moderate injuries and was also taken to a hospital. The Cobalt’s driver and all passengers were noted as not wearing safety devices at the time of the crash.

Crashes where one vehicle crosses the center line, as occurred here, are among the most dangerous types of collisions. The combined force of two vehicles traveling toward one another greatly amplifies the impact, leaving occupants with little opportunity to avoid severe injury. Our thoughts and prayers go out to anyone injured in this accident or ones similar.
