One person was injured Sunday evening in a two-vehicle crash in Boone County.
The crash happened around 5:34 p.m. on June 8, 2026, on westbound Route WW at Rangeline Road. A 2013 Nissan Altima entered westbound Route WW from southbound Rangeline Road and failed to yield to a 2021 Toyota RAV4. The crash occurred when the front right of the Toyota struck the front left of the Nissan.
The driver of the Toyota, a 65-year-old woman, suffered moderate injuries and was taken by EMS to a local hospital. Both vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene.
The crash report states that both drivers were wearing safety devices at the time of the crash.
Failure-to-yield crashes are especially dangerous because they often put one driver directly into the path of another vehicle. A driver entering a roadway must make sure traffic is clear before moving forward. When that does not happen, the driver who already has the right of way may have little time to react or avoid the collision.
This crash shows how serious a failed yield can be, even at an intersection or roadway entrance. Entering traffic without yielding is not just a small mistake; it can total vehicles, injure innocent drivers, and create hazards for everyone nearby. Drivers have a responsibility to stop, look carefully, and wait until it is safe before entering another roadway. Failing to do so is dangerous conduct that should be taken seriously and addressed under the law.
