Collision on U.S. 63 Caused by Careless Driver on Crossover

blog

On April 28, 2025, a 54-year-old man from Hartsburg, Missouri caused a serious crash when he drove his 2003 Chevrolet Silverado over both lanes of U.S. 63 at Wesbrooke Drive carelessly endangering the lives of others on the roadway. U.S. 63 has many newly installed “J-turns”, however some of the straight crossovers are still in existence. Careless drivers often attempt to cross over both lanes of US 63 Highway using the straight crossover and this is extremely dangerous and should not be done. Careless and Imprudent driving like this can lead to criminal punishments and even possibly jail time. The State of Missouri should increase criminal punishments for drivers that carelessly operate their vehicles and cause injuries. Further compounding the problem, it appears that this driver may not have maintained automobile liability insurance as is required under Missouri law. At a minimum, in Missouri drivers are required to carry at least $25,000 in liability limits. This careless driver will probably hire a defense lawyer that will come up with a defense on why he is not liable, or why he should not be punished. These types of crashes are preventable if drivers use the highest degree of care when operating their vehicles on Missouri roadways.
