Vehicle Infringes on Another’s Path, Causes Fatal Wreck in Jefferson County

blog

Ten minutes after 8 on the evening of Friday, May 9th, a 32-year-old man riding a Honda Motocross Bike lost his life as at the hands of another vehicle in Jefferson County, Missouri. On Moss Hollow Road at the intersection of Moss Drive, the driver of the bike was traveling north when a 2021 Toyota Tundra attempted to make a left turn across traffic and struck the bike. The biker braked to avoid impact but was hit nonetheless and ejected.

It’s always important to drive carefully, but extra caution is required and should be paid when traveling near motorcycles. Injuries resulting from collisions involving motorcycles account for a disproportionately high share of total injuries occurring in accidents: 15% of all traffic fatalities were motorcycle riders, though they only account for 3% of total vehicles. Ignoring the extra caution to be paid, or just not paying attention at all on the roads, is punishable by law in an effort to reduce these types of egregious accidents. This rider, and countless others, could have been saved by traffic laws had they all been followed appropriately.
