The crash occurred on July 7th, 2024, at 10:30pm in the 6700 block of Highway 50/63 past Osage City. 38-year-old Zachary Parsons was driving a 2021 Toyota Corolla. Police had received reports that his vehicle was driving on the wrong side of the road about 2 minutes before the crash occurred. Parsons crashed into a 2022 Ford Escape, driven by 28-year-old Tashay Benford. The vehicles came to a rest in the median with heavy front end damage to both vehicles. Both Parsons and Benford were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash. They were removed from their vehicles by Jefferson City Fire Department. They both sustained serious injuries and were flown to a hospital in Columbia by helicopter.
