According to the Missouri Highway Patrol a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Evert Hair, 85, was traveling the wrong way on I-44 and hit a 2002 Honda Civic driven by one of the teens from Mount Vernon, the other being a passenger.
All three were pronounced dead at the scene. They were all transported to Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City.
