According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report Chase Derboven, 19, also of Osage Beach, was driving on Horseshoe Bend Parkway just after midnight this morning, when he lost control while attempting to pass another vehicle. Derboven traveled off the road, went airborne twice, eventually coming to a stop when he struck a utility pole.
Both Derboven and his passenger, Samuel Huff, 18, of Osage Beach were ejected on impact. The patrol reports neither teen was wearing a seat belt.
Both teens suffered serious injuries when they were thrown from Derboven’s 2005 Ford Focus. The accident happened on Horseshoe Bend at Blackhawk Drive, just west of the Village of Four Seasons.
Chase Derboven was transported to Lake Regional while Samuel Huff was flown to University of Missouri Medical Center for treatment of his serious injuries.
The crash was investigated by Trooper TC Fick, 787, of the Missouri State HIghway Patrol’s Troop F. He was assisted by Sgt. JE Lowary, 466.
