Ronald D. Crowl Seriously Injured in Car Crash in Benton County, MO

BENTON COUNTY, Mo. — Two people were injured in a Benton County crash Sunday evening, December 27, 2020, including a Bates City man. According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, a Pontiac G8 being driven by Joplin resident, Derek D. Tumbleson, 42, was traveling southbound on MO-83, just north of MO-82, when he approached an immobile Dodge Ram, partially blocking the southbound lane of MO-83.

Tumbleson’s vehicle impacted the towed unit behind the Dodge Ram, which was being pulled by Bates City resident, Ronald D. Crowl, 42. The impact caused the towed unit to strike Tumbleson’s passenger, 12, who was a pedestrian at the time. The accident occurred at 5:50 p.m. Sunday. The juvenile was transported by Warsaw-Lincoln Ambulance District to Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar with moderate injuries. Crowl was transported by Cox Air Care to Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar for treatment of serious injuries.
