On the morning of December 14th, 2024, a car crash occurred in Phelps County that resulted in moderate injuries. At 11:34 am a 2025 Volvo VNL struck the rear of a 1996 Ford Club Wagon on I-44 headed westbound near the 176-mile marker. According to the crash report, the Volvo traveled off the left side of the highway following the collision, where it struck a cable barrier. The Ford, driven by a 66-year-old male, traveled to the right side of the highway and struck a culvert before overturning.
The Volvo, driven by a 38-year-old male, had moderate damage and was towed from the scene by D&D Towing, while the Ford was totaled and towed from the scene by Dishman’s Towing. The driver of the Volvo was wearing a safety device, and it is unknown if the driver of the Ford was as well. The 66-year-old male driving the Ford was moderately injured and was transported by Phelps Health Ambulance to Phelps Health Rolla.
