The crash occurred on October 29th, 2024, around 7:30 pm on Highway 63, about four miles south of Macon County. A 2020 GMC Yukon was backing out of a private driveway and into the path of a 2012 Chrysler Town and Country headed northbound. The Chrysler was driven by a 53-year-old with a 79-year-old passenger. The 55-year-old driver of the GMC was struck by the 2012 Chrysler. None of the parties involved were wearing seatbelts. As a result of the crash, both vehicles were totaled, and towed by Still’s Towing company.
All parties were seriously injured. Both occupants of the Chrysler were taken to the hospital from the scene. The 53-year-old was transported via Air Evac to the University Hospital in Columbia, and the 79-year-old was taken via ambulance to the Macon County Samaritan Hospital. The driver of the GMC was transported to the Moberly Regional Medical Center by a private vehicle. The 79-year-old passenger of the Chrysler was pronounced deceased at the hospital later that evening.
