The crash occurred on August 31st, 2024, at 8:50 PM on Duenke Drive at Hopetown Drive. 55-year-old Danny J. Richardson was driving a Yamaha golf cart westbound with passengers 55-year-old Tami K. Roberts and 55-year-old Misty M. Fisher-McHugh. Richardson then suddenly made a left turn, causing the golf cart to overturn. None of the occupants were utilizing a safety device at the time. This resulted in both Tami Roberts and Misty Fisher-McHugh sustaining serious injuries; they were both then transported to Lake Regional Hospital via Mercy EMS. Danny Richardson, the driver, was uninjured. The Yamaha golf cart was moderately damaged and towed by Hi Tech Towing.

Golf carts are often used for leisure activities, but inherent risks are associated with these vehicles, such as the lack of consistent safety features like seatbelts. Additionally, these vehicles are not required to carry insurance. Not only are injuries potentially more likely to occur around these vehicles, but there are also extra layers of potential confusion around the aftermath of a crash.
