Fatal Accident in Macon, Missouri


A tragic crash occurred on Friday morning in Macon, Missouri, resulting in four fatalities, including two children. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Jean Jones, 85, of Macon, failed to yield while traveling southbound in a sedan, colliding with an SUV driven by Julie Alspaugh, 56, of Hannibal, who was heading eastbound. Alspaugh’s SUV then collided with a westbound tractor-trailer driven by Eugene Niethe III, 48, of Wood River, Illinois.

Alspaugh, a 4-year-old girl, and a 7-year-old boy, all from Quincy, Illinois, were pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger, Kailen Ritter Quigley, 30, also from Quincy, succumbed to her injuries at Samaritan Hospital in Macon. The report stated that all individuals involved were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
