Two people were injured Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Bates County.
The crash happened around 3:10 p.m. on June 24, 2026, at southbound I-49 and westbound Missouri 52. A 2024 Chevrolet Blazer struck a 2013 Nissan Maxima as the Nissan was making a left turn.
Both drivers suffered moderate injuries and were taken by EMS to a local hospital. Both vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene.
The crash report states that both drivers were wearing safety devices at the time of the crash.
Left-turn collisions can be especially dangerous because turning vehicles and through traffic may meet in the same space with little time to react. Drivers approaching an intersection must remain alert for vehicles slowing or turning ahead, while drivers making a left turn must take care to complete the maneuver only when it is safe.
