Reckless Highway Crossing Causes Serious Crash in Webster County

blog

Ten minutes after 4pm on Thursday, May 15th, a car attempting to cross the entirety of a highway caused a major collision on US 60 and Route A at Diggins Road in Webster County, Missouri. As a Cadillac Escalade was traveling westbound on US 60, it collided with a Chevrolet Silverado, heading south, trying to cross over multiple lanes of the roadway at once. The driver of the Silverado seriously injured himself in the crash, along with seriously injuring two passengers of the Escalade.

Careless and Imprudent Driving is a serious criminal offense that can result in substantial jail time. We have a civic duty to uphold, and that is to follow the laws as they were written, being mindful of the fact that they were put in place to maintain safety on the roads. Driving well, however, doesn’t stop at just following the law—it entails driving defensively, being hyper-aware of your surroundings, and taking extra precautions when it’s needed.  Ignoring these regulations and suggestions is a blatantly selfish act that can claim lives, and the criminals that ignore the laws must be punished.
