At 1:45pm on Tuesday, April 22nd, a fatal collision occurred on Interstate 270 at Interstate 64 in St. Louis, County, Missouri. A 2000 Ford Explorer was traveling northbound as the driver lost control and hit the rear end of a 1997 Honda CRV, also traveling northbound. The Ford continued off the roadway, striking a pole. The Honda struck the ground after leaving the roadway, and overturned.
The driver of the CRV, a 68-year-old man, sustained serious injuries in the collision. An occupant of the same vehicle, a 69-year-old man, also sustained serious injuries in the collision. Both were reported to have been wearing their seatbelts, and both were transported to Mercy Hospital St. Louis. The driver of the Ford Explorer, 69-year-old man, unfortunately succumbed to his injuries sustained in the collision and was pronounced deceased 18 minutes after the crash.
