The crash occurred on September 1st, 2024, around 7:00PM on the Gasconade River upstream from Pointers Creek. The 2002 gator boat was being operated by a 30-year-old individual. Passengers included two adults aged 21 and 29 as well as four juveniles aged 0, 4, 7, and 9. The boat was travelling upstream southbound when it struck a root in the river, causing the vessel to collide with a rock bluff. The driver of the vehicle as well as the 7-year-old juvenile were fatally injured and pronounced dead on the scene. The other three juveniles, including the infant, as well as the 29-year-old adult were seriously injured and were transported to University Hospital. The 21-year-old passenger received only minor injuries and was treated on the scene. The four juveniles were all wearing safety devices, while none of the adults were using one at the time of the crash. The gator boat was totaled and was left partially submerged in the river.
