17 Year Old was Killed in Cole County Car Crash

Cole County, Missouri-

The crash occurred at 2:15 p.m. on Walnut Acres Road near Stringtown Station Road, on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, the vehicle, a 2009 Chevrolet HHR went around a curve too fast, causing the driver to lose control. Troopers said the driver overcorrected, causing the vehicle to skid. The vehicle ended up traveling off the right side of the road and striking an embankment before overturning.

Troopers said the passenger, Kelton Sellers, 17, of Jefferson City was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the crash report, Sellers was not wearing a seat belt.

Troopers said the driver, 18-year-old Kaleb Mauzy, was wearing a seat belt. The crash report did not list any injuries for Mauzy.

Seller’s family may have a claim against the insurance company, Progressive, that insured Mauzy’s vehicle.
